ON SUNDAY, October 7, The Cadoxton School of Tae Kwon-Do attended a tournament held at the Western Leisure Centre, Cardiff.
It was the last local tournament before the club head north to take part in the Scottish open Tae Kwon-Do tournament.
Fighting in the 10 and under category was Jamie Halford, Rebekah Sweeney, Gareth (Gizzo) Cox and Adam Hartery.
Adam and Gizzo battled for gold and silver, Adam winning through adding yet another gold to his growing collection of trophies, taking the silver. Rebekah and Jamie fought well but just lost out to their opponents.
In the under 12 category were Dayle McCarthy and Sean Morrison. Dayle once again showing his all round fighting skills winning gold. Sean not fighting to his best lost out in the second round.
David Sweeney, the clubs only representative in the under 14 category, winning through to take the gold. In his first tournament for at least two years, fighting in the under 16 category, Sonnie Eaton brought home yet another gold for the club.
Although only 17 years old, Hayley Payne fought in the ladies' heavyweight division, taking the gold to add to her many trophies. Brett Williams, "18" on the day, having to fight for the first time in the Men's lightweight division, only to lose to the eventual winner.
Fighting for the first time, Eugene Sullivan fought in the men's heavyweight division only to lose by three points to a much younger fighter.
Classes are held at the Victoria Park Community Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6pm to 9.30pm.
