A BARRY mother of four ran her own personal best to raise money for her chosen charity.
Donna Georgiou, 37, of Aneurin Road has always been into running to keep fit.
And she has always supported the Macmillan Fund. This year, she found a great way of combining the two.
Donna took part in the Newcastle Run, and successfully finished the gruelling 13.1 miles course in two hours and twenty minutes.
Donna left the fund-raising until the last minute but still raised £300. She said: "I didn't think I'd be fit enough to compete this year after having Lewi nine months ago, but I felt fine."
She added: "I run up to seven miles regularly, and the three weeks training I did after deciding to go for it went so far to prepare me. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make it, but on the day, the crowd was fabulous, I felt so good I think I could have carried on."
Bolstered by her achievement in Newcastle, Donna is determined to have a crack at the London Marathon next year. She said: "The forms have to be in very soon, and it's difficult to get a place but I'm willing to try."
Donna will be running in aid of Macmillan again. If anyone would like to contact her to offer support, call 01446 406726.
