SPORT was top of the bill at the Parlour last week, when three local athletes visited Barry Mayor Margaret Wilkinson.
Local men Jamie Sylvester and Mike O'Shea told of their cricket successes, whilst Julian Price spoke about his achievements in the equestrian world.
Although all three said they were angry at the lack of sporting facilities for young people, not just in the Vale of Glamorgan, but around Wales.
Julian, reserve World Champion, said: "When we visit countries like Canada, we cannot afford to take our own horses. There are so many fields around the Vale, we have places to practise. We just need sponsorship for our Welsh teams, and more shows to compete in."
Jamie Sylvester has been capped 150 times for Wales. He said: "Kids who want to get into cricket find it so difficult to get training, they end up going into football or rugby. We're missing out on talent because we have nowhere for them to meet."
Unsung
Mayor Margaret Wilkinson is considering ways to highlight sport in the Vale of Glamorgan, and increase the awareness of local achievements.
She added: "We have so many sports men and women in the Vale, and their accomplishments go unsung. That has to change."
