Barry Town AFC reveal their new manager

BARRY Town have confirmed Kenny Brown as their new manager.

Kenny who was previously Assistant Manager and who had been looking after the team on a caretaker basis, following Peter Nicholas departure, has agreed a contract which will keep him at Jenner Park till the end of 2003.

The clubs chief executive Kevin Green said: "We are delighted to appoint Kenny. We have had a lot of quality applicants for the vacancy and the reason we have taken so long was to ensure we got the right person. Not only for the present but also someone who has the ability to adapt to the way the club is going to progress in the future."

He went on: "Possibly this delay has worked to Kenny's advantage, in that he has impressed people with how he has conducted himself over the past couple of weeks."

Another factor behind the appointment was that we were not merely replacing a manager, Peter Nicholas's input was over the complete range of the clubs business. Consequently when you analysed the position, the majority of our problems were 'off the field,' the football side is in pretty good shape, therefore the question of 'continuity' came into play.

The need to continue with the style and structure that has kept Barry at the top of Welsh Football was an important factor. Obviously Kenny's contribution to last seasons Championship and Cup Winning success as well as the European results is well documented.

Kenny will take charge officially for the clubs crucial League of Wales fixture against TNS at Jenner Park this Saturday, kick off 1pm.
