DOGS can officially have the run of Vale beaches from today (October 1).
The ban is lifted until April 31, 2017.
Dogs are now welcome at Southerndown, Llantwit Major beach, Cold Knap, Barry Island (Whitmore Bay) and Penarth.
The bye-law has operated since 2001 and exists primarily to protect the interests of bathers during the summer season.
