THE VALE youth cabinet and Vale Youth Forum members have met with decision makers to discuss services for the young.

Questions to Welsh Government minister for education and skills, Huw Lewis and Vale Council cabinet member for children’s services, Cllr Chris Elmore covered school lessons, sports facilities and the role of AMs and councillors in serving young people.

Forum member Tom Chandler said: “Discussing future plans for education in Wales with Huw Lewis was beneficial to our understanding of the work the Welsh Assembly are currently undertaking to tackle issues within Wales. We look forward to seeing improvements being made.”

Cllr Chris Elmore said: “The session was a great success and proves that young people are passionate about a whole range of issues, including education. As always we will take on board what we have been told and do our best to address the issues that have been raised.”

Following the session, Huw Lewis said: “Engaging with young people is the key to improving the services that we provide for them. I was delighted to be invited to speak with the Vale Youth Forum and am very encouraged to hear about the links that the Council are building through initiatives such as the new youth cabinet.”
